About
As a freelance journalist, Chelsea Yarnell noticed that she spent roughly an hour a day looking for story ideas by combing through community news, event info, and the never-ending scroll of social media pages. It seemed like an unlikely routine for others and she wondered if she could streamline the process. With the generous support of Tillamook’s Level Up competition, the concept for Tillamook County Newsie was born.
Tillamook County Newsie is a curated newsletter of local news, events, and happenings in Tillamook County. Each newsletter features links to local stories from already existing media sources, information on upcoming community events, and original Newsie Feature pieces (formally known as Foreshore Features).
It’s for those who are interested in a full comprehensive look at what’s being written and talked about across all mediums...all in one place. At a glance, you're in the know.
Tillamook County Newsie is produced by experienced journalist Chelsea Yarnell who has worked as a writer on the Oregon Coast for over a decade. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from George Fox University. She previously held the title as Editor-in-Chief of the Tillamook Headlight Herald, and has had her work published in numerous county and regional outlets.
