It started with a note.
“We loved the hopscotch. Can we get a new course? [From] your friendly trash guys.”
Shelly Wagner posted a picture of the note in a Tillamook community Facebook page. Since then, she’s made it a tradition for her weekly trash pickup from
City Sanitary Service.

“I’m the artist,” Wagner said. “I make a [new hopscotch] every few weeks for them. All I can say is: Never grow up. I love to see people making life fun. It makes my heart and soul smile. Pass it on!”
Wagner has also been able to capture and share heart-warming footage of City Sanitary staff utilizing her hand drawn hopscotch and challenge courses.

City Sanitary has provided garbage and recycling collection in Tillamook since 1958 and has been a Walker family operation ever since.
“We have a great team of people and great customers,” City Sanitary Owner Bobby Poppe said. “We have steadily increased our customer base over the last several years and are looking forward to expanding our recycling opportunities with the new Recycling Modernization Act.”
Poppe also mentioned that City Sanitary is close to finalizing the purchase of additional property at the Port of Tillamook Bay for business expansion.
