Beginning in 2014, the Tillamook School of Dance has dedicated admission funds from their spring dance showcase to local hospice care. Since its inception, the benefit show has raised nearly $60,000.
This year’s performance, “A Tribute to the King,” paid homage to Elvis Presley, and Tillamook School of Dance Owner and Director Pink Colleknon-Eggert said it was the studio’s most well attended show.
“The meticulous details that Scott Casey and I have been working on are like nothing I’ve ever done before,” she said, noting all the work to make the dancers hair and makeup look like Priscilla Presley. “We’re so proud of what we’ve created together.”

At the end of the showcase, the Jan Colleknon Memorial Scholarship ($1,000) was awarded to senior dancer Stella Hurliman. Pink’s mother, Jan Colleknon who founded the Tillamook School of dance, passed away in 2011 from Cerebellar Ataxia. The scholarship is given directly from the Colleknon family to a dancer who embodies the dedication and spirit that Jan brought to dance.
In attendance, were local Tillamook hospice workers who were honored during the showcase.
“We’re beyond grateful to Tillamook School of Dance, the Colleknon family, and everyone who this night possible,” Tillamook hospice nurse Sally Sutton said. “Your generosity means that more families in Tillamook County can receive the compassionate care and dignity they deserve during the hardest times of their lives. Thank you for standing with us.”
